The Lost Law & The Prophetess
The story of Huldah is found in 2 Kings 22:14-20 and 2 Chronicles 34:22-28.
She was a prophetess who lived in Jerusalem during the reign of King Josiah. When Hilkiah the priest found a lost book of the law, he took it to Huldah to ask her if it was authentic. Huldah confirmed that it was the word of God and prophesied that if the people of Judah would turn from their wicked ways, God would spare them from punishment.
The story of Huldah teaches us several important lessons. First, it teaches us that God can use anyone, he chooses souls for his purpose, sometimes they don't know why but they're there to speak his word or "express" it. Huldah was a woman, and she was not a priest or a member of the royal family. Yet, God chose her to deliver his message to the king. This teaches us that we should never underestimate the power of anyone to speak or express God's word or both.
The story of Huldah teaches us that God is merciful and forgiving. When Huldah told the king that the people of Judah would be punished for their sins, she also told him that God would spare them if they would turn from their ways. This teaches us that God is always willing to forgive us if we are truly sorry for our sins, work to come alongside Him no matter what darkness tries to separate you and are "willing" to change our ways and allow God to correct you in His True Love.
The story of Huldah teaches us that Love is powerful. Huldah's love for God and her desire to see His people saved and healed Motivated Her to Speak His Word Boldly, even when it was VERY, Very, very challenging. This teaches us that True Charity can move mountains and change the world.
How can Huldah's powerful love change the world we live in now? Here are a few examples:
- Huldah's love for God can inspire us to speak out against seen and unseen oppression or tyranny over the mind of man.
- Huldah's love for Her People can motivate us to work for peace, forgiveness and reconciliation on levels.
- "Huldah's love"... for the truth can encourage us to stand up for what is right, even when it is unpopular.
- Huldah's story is a reminder that we all have the power to make a difference in the world.
When we are motivated by Charity, we can overcome any obstacle and bring about real change.
